Distance Sensitive AdaBoost using Distance Weight Function [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fuzzy Logic and Intelligent Systems, 2012
This paper proposes a new method to improve performance of AdaBoost by using a distance weight function to increase the accuracy of its machine learning processes. The proposed distance weight algorithm improves classification in areas where the original binary classifier is weak.

Testing the Hubble Law with the IRAS 1.2 Jy Redshift Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We test and reject the claim of Segal et al. (1993) that the correlation of redshifts and flux densities in a complete sample of IRAS galaxies favors a quadratic redshift-distance relation over the linear Hubble law.

Carcinomas and Carcinoid Tumors of the Lungs and Bronchi in Children and Adolescents: The EXPeRT Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary lung carcinomas and bronchial carcinoid tumors (BC) are very rare malignancies in childhood. While typical BC and mucoepidermoid carcinomas are mostly low‐grade, localized tumors with a more favorable prognosis than in adults, necessitating avoidance of overtreatment, adenocarcinomas of the lung are often diagnosed at advanced disease ...

Results of the Childhood Cancer and Leukaemia Group's United Kingdom Relapsed Wilms Tumour Trial

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The United Kingdom relapsed Wilms tumour (UKW‐R) trial aimed to improve the historically low survival rates after relapse of Wilms tumour (WT) through a prospective national risk‐stratified protocol. The trial also evaluated efficacy and toxicity of high‐dose melphalan.

Exploring Preferences for a Digital Single‐Session Intervention for Adolescent Siblings of Youth With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adolescent siblings of children with cancer are at elevated risk for psychosocial problems. Unfortunately, various barriers such as limited family time and resources, conflicting schedules, and psychosocial staffing constraints at cancer centers hinder sibling access to support.

The Heston Riemannian distance function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Heston model is a popular stock price model with stochastic volatility that has found numerous applications in practice. In the present paper, we study the Riemannian distance function associated with the Heston model and obtain explicit formulas for

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Effect of induced blur on distance visual function

open access: yesAfrican Vision and Eye Health, 2020
Background: Tests of visual function assess the eye and visual system. Factors such as ageing, refractive error, strabismus, amblyopia and ocular diseases have a negative effect on different visual functions. Aim: To determine the effect of induced blur
