Evolutionary community discovery in dynamic social networks via resistance distance [PDF]

open access: yesExpert Systems With Applications, 2021
Traditional social community discovery methods concentrate mainly on static social networks, but the analysis of dynamic networks is a prerequisite for real-time and personalized social services.

The structure of distances in networks

Networks, 1986
AbstractPart of this work is concerned with determining those graphs that produce extreme rays of the cone of shortest distance matrices of undirected linear n‐vertex graphs without loops. For n ≤ 4, for example, all extreme rays come from a certain class of “elementary” graphs, but for n ≥ 5 there are nonelementary extreme rays, and these are studied ...

Partial embedding distance for networks

2017 51st Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2017
This paper presents methods to compare networks where relationships between pairs of nodes in a given network are defined. We define such network distance by searching for the optimal method to embed one network into another network, and prove that such distance is a valid metric in the space of networks modulo permutation isomorphisms.

Biological Network Edit Distance

Journal of Computational Biology, 2016
Interactions among biological entities contain more information than purely the similarities between the entities. For example, interactions between genes, and gene products, can be more informative than the sequence similarities of the genes involved.

Distances in Networks

2013
A network is a graph, directed or undirected, with a positive number (weight) assigned to each of its arcs or edges. Real-world complex networks usually have a gigantic number N of vertices and are sparse, i.e., with relatively few edges.

Evaluation of network distances properties by NDS, the Network Distance Service

2006 3rd International Conference on Broadband Communications, Networks and Systems, 2006
This article presents a novel method for evaluating the properties of distances between hosts in a computational grid. Our method allows obtaining several indicators about a given network. We demonstrate why the current monitoring tools are not sufficient in grid environments that lack high level tools taking into account particular constraints for ...

AVERAGE DISTANCE OF SUBSTITUTION NETWORKS

Fractals, 2019
The substitution network is a deterministic model of evolving self-similar networks. For normalized substitution networks, the limit of metric spaces with respect to networks is a self-similar fractal and the limit of average distances on networks is the integral of geodesic distance of the fractal on the self-similar measure.
