Difference distance magic oriented graphs

open access: yesResearch in the Mathematical Sciences
AbstractThis article introduces difference distance magic (DDM) labelings, a new labeling on oriented graphs. We discuss basic properties of oriented graphs that have a DDM labeling and methods for constructing DDM labelings in a wide variety of oriented graph classes. We also give a variety of oriented graph classes that fail to produce a DDM labeling.

Targeting the noncatalytic activity of GSK3β modulates neuronal excitability in medium spiny neurons via Nav1.6 interactions

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 15, Page 4344-4363, August 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Kinases phosphorylate ion channels, but their noncatalytic roles via protein–protein interactions (PPI) are less understood. Here, we identified the peptidomimetic ZL141 to characterize the PPI between GSK3β and Nav1.6, revealing a noncatalytic role for GSK3β in regulating Nav1.6 currents and neuronal excitability ...

Golden weapons and golden fetters: From the gold standard to the new geopolitics

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 79, Issue 3, Page 900-921, August 2026.
Abstract This paper explores the historical relationship between monetary regimes, security concerns, and geopolitical tensions, particularly focusing on the role of gold. Throughout history, monetary systems have been deeply intertwined with international state systems and security provisions.

Combinatorial configurations in determination of antimagic labelings of graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021

Twin Crystal Moiré Metasurfaces for Crossing Flat‐Band Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 53, 2 July 2026.
This study introduces twin crystal moiré metasurfaces, breaking in‐plane symmetry to enable reconfigurable acoustic wave manipulation. By adjusting the twin angle and interlayer twist angle, various combinations of hyperbolic, flat bands, and elliptic states can be synthesized in the system.

Revisiting Target‐Aware de novo Molecular Generation with TarPass: Between Rational Design and Texas Sharpshooter

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 40, 17 July 2026.
TarPass provides a rigorous benchmark for target‐aware de novo molecular generation by jointly evaluating protein‐ligand interactions, molecular plausibility, and drug‐likeness on 18 well‐studied targets. Results show that current models often fail to consistently surpass random baseline in target‐specific enrichment, while post hoc multi‐tier virtual ...

Machine Learning‐Derived Neural Signatures of Itch and Pain That Reliably Distinguish the Two Sensations in Humans: A Proof‐Of‐Concept Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Recent advances in human neuroimaging combined with machine learning have enabled identification of neural signatures representing various internal states, providing a promising framework for developing objective biomarkers. However, no study has investigated neural signatures that can reliably identify and distinguish itch and pain.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Biological Evaluation of Co(II), Cu(II), and Ni(II) Complexes With 2,2′‐Bipyridine‐5,5′‐Dicarboxamide Ligands: Antibacterial and Enzyme Inhibition Studies

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2026.
Synthesis of novel trinuclear [M3L2] complexes based on 5,5’‐regiochemistry is reported. Co‐L2 emerges as a potent lead with significant broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity. Ni‐L2 proves highly effective for pancreatic lipase and BChE inhibition, while the free L2 ligand exhibits superior AChE inhibitory potency.

Does a decision support tool designed to depict West Nile virus risk explain variation in ruffed grouse Bonasa umbellus use of managed forests?

open access: yesWildlife Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 4, July 2026.
Infectious diseases are commonly cited as significant contributors to wildlife population declines. It is, therefore, important to investigate the extent to which tools designed to mitigate the effects of infectious diseases explain wildlife responses to habitat management.
