Microprocessor-based distance relays

Microprocessors and Microsystems, 1983
Abstract This paper present a microprocessor-based distance-relaying scheme suitable for the protection of EHV lines. The scheme offers compactness and flexibility, and reduces numbers and types of relaying units. A generalized interface employing operational amplifiers, analogue-to-digital converter, voltage comparators and analogue multiplexer has ...

Distance relay action during oscillations

Electrical Engineering, 1934
The behavior of distance relays during system oscillations is analyzed in this paper, and curves are presented for determining whether the oscillations are likely to cause relay operation. Different types of distance relays are considered and general methods of analyzing system conditions are discussed.

A New Reactance Distance Relay

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1948
THE HIGH LEVEL of industrial and commercial activity has created a demand for electric power greater today than at the peak of wartime production. Installation of additional generating capacity and new transmission lines has been unable to keep up with this growth in power demand.

Instantaneous Overcurrent Relays for Distance Relaying

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1935
Instantaneous isolation of faults on transmission and distribution lines is ever a problem of the relay engineer. The use of instantaneous overcurrent relays as applied to the system of the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company is discussed in this paper. Relays of this type were applied in conjunction with already installed overcurrent time delay relays ...

Microprocessor-based distance relay

Proceedings. National Power Engineering Conference, 2003. PECon 2003., 2005
This paper presents the design and operation algorithm for the protection of short transmission line using microprocessor-based distance relay. The characteristic of a distance relay is realised by comparing voltage and current at the relay location.

The mho distance relay

Electrical Engineering, 1946
THE NEED for more adequate discrimination by means of distance relays, between fault conditions and power swings has been heightened in recent years by the construction of longer transmission lines and by the transmission of larger amounts of energy over existing lines.
