The Structure of Canine Distemper Virus

Research in Veterinary Science, 1962
SUMMARY The particles of canine distemper virus have been studied in the electron microscope. Their structure resembles that of the larger myxoviruses. They have an outer coat or membrane bearing projections and an internal helical component 150 to 170 A in width. The particles vary from 1100 to 5500 A in diameter.

A new plaque system for canine distemper: characteristics of the green strain of canine distemper virus

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1979
A Vero cell adapted Green strain of canine distemper virus (CDV) was tested for its plaque-forming capacity in different cell lines. Plaque formation was observed in HEp-2, BS-C-I, and HeLa cells but not in Vero or dog kidney cells even though replication and cytopathology were observed in the latter cell types.

Structural polypeptides of canine distemper virus

Archives of Virology, 1980
The structural polypeptides of two strains of canine distemper virus and the Lec strain of measles virus were analysed by SDS-polyacrylamide-slab-gel electrophoresis. One strain of canine distemper virus derived from a live vaccine (Convac, Dumex), contained six major structural polypeptides with mol.wt. of 85, 78, 59, 43, 41 and 34 x 10(3).

Immunohistochemical demonstration of canine distemper virus antigen as an aid in the diagnosis of canine distemper encephalomyelitis

Research in Veterinary Science, 1990
Brain tissue from 33 dogs with non-suppurative encephalitis was examined for evidence of canine distemper virus (CDV) encephalitis. Sections were examined for lesions, inclusion bodies, syncytial cells and CDV antigen using a double bridge unlabelled antibody enzyme technique.

Canine distemper virus in coyotes: A serologic survey

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1986
SUMMARY Serum samples from 228 coyotes were selected randomly from a serum bank assembled from Texas from 1975 to 1984 and were evaluated serologically for neutralizing antibodies against canine distemper virus (cdv). One hundred and twenty-eight (56%) of the 228 coyotes had antibody titers of ≥1:5 against cdv (seropositive).

Immunoperoxidase study of canine distemper virus pneumonia

Research in Veterinary Science, 1983
Forty-two cases of canine pneumonia were examined for the presence of canine distemper virus. For that purpose canine distemper virus inclusion bodies were located. The histopathological lesions were related to the presence of canine distemper antigen, as demonstrated with an immunoperoxidase technique.
