Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Elite Capture Through Information Distortion: A Theoretical Essay [PDF]

open access: yes
Common wisdom as well as sound analytical arguments suggest that stronger punishment of deviant behavior meted out by a principal typically prompts the agents to better conform with his objectives.

Understanding Composite Distortion during Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Composites distort during manufacture, causing difficulties assembling structures, and leading to increased costs. An interative approach to tool design is often used, with the geometry modified on a trial and error basis in order to produce the correct ...

Prehension and perception of size in left visual neglect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Right hemisphere damaged patients with and without left visual neglect, and age-matched controls had objects of various sizes presented within left or right body hemispace. Subjects were asked to estimate the objects' sizes or to reach out and grasp them,

Assessment of Time-Varying Waveform Distortion Measured in a Railway Traction Converter Station

open access: yesIEEE Access
The waveform distortion interactions and time-varying behavior in electric railway power systems (ERPS) are explored in this paper by investigating measurements from a traction converter station.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Stiffness-distortion sarcomere model for muscle simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A relatively simple method is presented for incorporating cross-bridge mechanisms into a muscle model. The method is based on representing force in a half sarcomere as the product of the stiffness of all parallel cross bridges and their average ...

Geometry-Driven Distortion Mechanisms in Thin-Walled Rotating Shells Fabricated by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
Laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF-LB) enables the fabrication of complex rotational metallic components for aerospace applications, such as engine exhaust nozzles and combustion liners, but the localized thermal cycles inherent to the process often lead ...

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...
