Still little evidence of poleward range shifts in the tropics, but lowland biotic attrition may be underway

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 1, January 2025.
Based on reviews of more than 450 studies, documented climate‐driven species range shifts within the terrestrial tropics have been exclusively upslope—none poleward, a pattern we attribute to the lack of latitudinal temperature gradients within the tropics, as illustrated here.

Tree species abundance changes at the edges of their climatic distribution: An interplay between climate change, plant traits and forest management

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 112, Issue 12, Page 2785-2797, December 2024.
Our research emphasizes the crucial impact of historical forest management in shaping the current distribution of tree species. After controlling for the effect of forest management, climate change directly influenced tree demographics, favouring species based on their traits.

Linking landscape structure, floral resource distribution, pollen use and movement distances of a generalist predator

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 61, Issue 11, Page 2798-2808, November 2024.
Our findings suggest that the spatial distribution of flowering wild plants can inform movement patterns of lacewings and other flower‐visiting insects in agricultural landscapes. In addition, the location of floral resources in the landscape is important for its capacity to sustain natural enemies. Given the strong reliance of lacewings on pollen from
