Relaxation patterns and semi-Markov dynamics
Exponential relaxation to equilibrium is a typical property of physical systems, but inhomogeneities are known to distort the exponential relaxation curve, leading to a wide variety of relaxation patterns.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Escape from the potential well: competition between long jumps and long waiting times
Within a concept of the fractional diffusion equation and subordination, the paper examines the influence of a competition between long waiting times and long jumps on the escape from the potential well.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

AbstractWe study the regularity of weak solutions to evolution equations with distributed order fractional time derivative. We prove a weak Harnack inequality for nonnegative weak supersolutions and Hölder continuity of weak solutions to this problem.

Fractional calculus and continuous-time finance II: the waiting-time distribution
We complement the theory of tick-by-tick dynamics of financial markets based on a Continuous-Time Random Walk (CTRW) model recently proposed by Scalas et al., and we point out its consistency with the behaviour observed in the waiting-time distribution ...

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Space-time fractional Zener wave equation
Space-time fractional Zener wave equation, describing viscoelastic materials obeying the time-fractional Zener model and the space-fractional strain measure, is derived and analyzed. This model includes waves with finite speed, as well as non-propagating

The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...
