A distributed Bragg reflector silicon evanescent laser
2008 5th IEEE International Conference on Group IV Photonics, 2008We report a distributed Bragg reflector silicon evanescent laser operating continuous wave at 1596 nm. The lasing threshold and maximum output power are 65 mA and 11 mW, respectively and shows open eye-diagrams under direct modulation at 2.5 Gb/s.

Organic multilayers as distributed Bragg reflectors
Applied Physics Letters, 1999We report on a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) operating in the IR spectral region, based on a fluorocarbon polymer (CFx) multilayer. In this organic structure, the periodic variation of the refractive index is obtained by embedding gold clusters in the CFx, resulting in a periodic CFx/CFx(Au) layered structure with a refractive index discontinuity ...

AlP/GaP distributed Bragg reflectors
Applied Physics Letters, 2013Distributed Bragg reflectors with high reflectivity bands centered at wavelengths from 530 to 690 nm (green to red) based on AlP/GaP quarter-wave stacks are prepared on (001)GaP using gas-source molecular-beam epitaxy. Additionally, the complex refractive index of AlP is measured using spectroscopic ellipsometry within the range of 330–850 nm in order ...

Characterization of Distributed Bragg Reflectors
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2014We propose and demonstrate a novel method to characterize the coupling coefficient and loss coefficient of a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR). The method is based on a coupled-mode analysis of periodic structures, and involves the linewidth comparison of a pair of DBR Fabry-Perot resonators. The method is shown to be independent of coupling efficiency

GaAs distributed Bragg reflector lasers
Optics Communications, 1976Abstract An equivalent cavity approach is used to derive the oscillation condition of a distributed Bragg reflector laser. The oscillation frequencies and thresholds are determined graphically. The effect of lossy reflectors is discussed. Several advantages and potential applications of distributed Bragg reflector structures are pointed out ...

High performance distributed Bragg reflector microwave resonator
Proceedings of 1996 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium, 1997A new resonator device structure is described that achieves Q-factors well above those currently realizable for conventional room temperature microwave structures. The new structure consists of a microwave cavity, for which the enclosure walls consist of distributed Bragg reflectors (DBR) made of low-loss sapphire.

Hybrid Distributed Bragg Reflector Laser
CLEO/Europe Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 1998Current and future WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical systems for access and transport networks require stable, low-chirp and potentially low cost lasers emitting at predetermined (ITU-T grid) wavelengths. In addition advanced OTDM (Optical Time Division Multiplexing) systems require sources for high quality picosecond pulses on the ...

Waveguide Resonators with Distributed Bragg Reflectors
Optica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1982The transmission and reflection properties of a waveguide resonator with DBRs are described near and at the Bragg condition using the method of coupled waves. Different grating configurations characterized by their coupling coefficients, attentuation parameters, and geometric dimensions are included to investigate symmetrical and asymmetrical resonator

High-power GaInAs lasers with distributed bragg reflectors
Digest of Conference on Optical Fiber Communication, 1992Single-mode strained-layer lasers have been fabricated which use buried second-order gratings for distributed Bragg reflectors. The lasers contain a strained GaInAs quantum well in the active region and operate in an edge emitting fashion with CW powers in excess of 110 mW.

Distributed Bragg reflector active optical filters
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1991The characteristics of active optical filters based on distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser diodes are described. The authors present a theoretical model for the small and large signal filter response which can be used to optimize the filter design and operating point.
