Waveguide Characteristics Near the Second Bragg Condition

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
We show that in an optical waveguide with no material losses at wavelengths near the second-order Bragg condition, there exists two pairs of modes. One pair has identical propagation constants but have different attenuation coefficients, while a second ...

Assessment of lithographic process variation effects in InGaAsP annular Bragg resonator lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Optical microresonators based on an annular geometry of radial Bragg reflectors have been designed and fabricated by electron-beam lithography, reactive ion etching, and an epitaxial transfer process. Unlike conventional ring resonators that are based on

Design and Study of a Nanocavity-based One-dimensional Photonic Crystal for Potential Applications in Refractive Index Sensing

open access: yesARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, 2023
Refractive index (RI) can be used to identify a particular substance and determine its purity and concentration. The RI of glucose solution with various concentrations can be determined using a distributed Bragg reflective (DBR) device containing a ...

Multiwavelength distributed Bragg reflector fibre laser

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2006
A short-cavity continuous-wave multiwavelength distributed Bragg reflector fibre laser is described which stably generated eight longitudinal modes of the cavity spaced approximately 0.4 nm (50 GHz). The relative intensity noise of the laser was dominated by anti-phase relaxation oscillations associated with gain cross-saturation.

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Couplonics Of Cyclic Ternary Systems: From Coupled Periodic Waveguides To Discrete Photonic Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2013
In the context of coupled periodic waveguides, "couplonics" refers to the rigorous equivalence between continuous wave coupling and localized interactions.

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.
