Coding for distributed computation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 1995 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2002
We show that any distributed protocol which runs on a noiseless network in time T, can be simulated on an identical noisy network with a slow-down factor proportional to log(d+1), where d is the maximum degree in the network, and with exponentially small probability of error. On every channel of our network we implement communications using tree codes.

Neural Assemblies as Precursors for Brain Function

open access: yesNeuroSci, 2022
This concept paper gives a narrative about intelligence from insects to the human brain, showing where evolution may have been influenced by the structures in these simpler organisms.

On Sparsity Awareness in Distributed Computations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 33rd ACM Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architectures, 2021
We extract a core principle underlying seemingly different fundamental distributed settings, showing sparsity awareness may induce faster algorithms for problems in these settings. To leverage this, we establish a new framework by developing an intermediate auxiliary model weak enough to be simulated in the CONGEST model given low mixing time, as well ...

The Rise of Quantum Internet Computing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
This article highlights quantum Internet computing as referring to distributed quantum computing over the quantum Internet, analogous to (classical) Internet computing involving (classical) distributed computing over the (classical) Internet. Relevant to quantum Internet computing would be areas of study such as quantum protocols for distributed nodes ...

Distributed Quantum Computing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Quantum computing combines the framework of quantum mechanics with that of computer science. In this paper we give a short introduction to quantum computing and survey the results in the area of distributed quantum computing and its applications to physics.

Distributed Linearly Separable Computation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2022
This paper formulates a distributed computation problem, where a master asks $N$ distributed workers to compute a linearly separable function. The task function can be expressed as $K_c$ linear combinations of $K$ messages, where each message is a function of one dataset.

HTC Scientific Computing in a Distributed Cloud Environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper describes the use of a distributed cloud computing system for high-throughput computing (HTC) scientific applications. The distributed cloud computing system is composed of a number of separate Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds that ...

Artificial Intelligence-Based Semantic Internet of Things in a User-Centric Smart City

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Smart city (SC) technologies can provide appropriate services according to citizens’ demands. One of the key enablers in a SC is the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, which enables a massive number of devices to connect with each other. However,
