A Distributed Mobile Database Architecture
2011 IEEE Asia-Pacific Services Computing Conference, 2011This paper describes architecture for mobile databases where data is distributed over mobile devices. We propose strategies for query execution during mobility. The underlying architecture is based on 3G telephone networks.

Data Integration in Distributed Databases
IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 1987Data integration in a distributed database refers to the production of union-compatible views for similar information expressed dissimilarly in different nodes. Such a facility is needed for location transparency and for easier formulation of global queries over the apparently incompatible data aggregated from different nodes.

Rethinking integrity [distributed databases]
IEEE Concurrency, 1997In practice, no real database enjoys complete integrity, a variety of factors conspire to make some information stale, missing, or just plain wrong. System design and analysis should recognize that real systems lack integrity to some degree, most, if not all, of the time. Significant benefits flow from such recognition.

Spatially distributed databases on sensors
Proceedings of the 8th ACM international symposium on Advances in geographic information systems, 2000We consider the problem of data dissemination in a sensor network. First we introduce a cost model for data dissemination in such networks. The model quantifies the tradeoff between the inconsistency of the data, and its transmission cost; the transmission cost is given in terms of energy and bandwidth.

Design and implementation of a distributed database
Proceedings of 1993 IEEE 17th International Computer Software and Applications Conference COMPSAC '93, 2002We describe an approach for controlling certain unauthorized inferences in a multilevel secure distributed database management system. In such a system, two or more multilevel secure database management systems are connected via a trusted network. Furthermore, the environment that we have considered is a limited heterogeneous one where not all of the ...

Issues in distributed database security
[1989 Proceedings] Fifth Annual Computer Security Applications Conference, 2003The requirements for multilevel security have been shown to conflict with some database integrity and consistency properties. The authors examine the data consistency requirements for a distributed database system, consider the effects of multilevel security on meeting those requirements, and consider architecture for achieving them.
