Evolutionary Optimisation of Distributed Energy Resources
2005Genetic optimisation is used to minimise operational costs across a system of electrical loads and generators controlled by local intelligent agents and connected to the electricity grid at market rates. Experimental results in a simulated environment show that coordinated market-sensitive behaviours are achieved.

Renewable or non-conventional electricity generators employed in DG systems or Microgrids are known as distributed energy resources (DERs) or microsources. One major aim of Microgrids is to combine all benefits of non-conventional/ renewable low-carbon generation technologies and high-efficiency combined heat and power (CHP) systems.

Irregularity of Energy Resources Distribution
Proceedings, 2010Global resources of hydrocarbons and other (coal, woods, water, etc.) energy sources are distributed irregularly. This depends upon geotectonic position of the region, historical and today’s climatic conditions, and upon some other reasons. Main resources are located in the large troughs of the Earth crust (sedimentary basins) with thick layer of ...

Energy Service Description for Capabilities of Distributed Energy Resources
2015The increasing number of volatile Distributed Energy Resources DERs in the electricity grid implies a rising level of complexity and dynamics. The integration and management of these DERs have lead to the introduction of the aggregator role, with the aim of providing energy services to system operators and the market.

Coordination of distributed energy resources
IEEE Annual Meeting of the Fuzzy Information, 2004. Processing NAFIPS '04., 2004A major problem with any solution for distributed generation (DG) is the coordination of distributed energy resources (DER) to meet demand. Taking a new approach to the problem, we consider off-grid implementations that would have the greatest impact in remote and developing regions.

Design for distributed energy resources
IEEE Power and Energy Magazine, 2008The blackout experiences have demonstrated the vulnerability of the interconnected electric power system to grid failure caused by natural disasters and unexpected phenomena. Changes in customer needs, additional stress due to liberalized electricity markets, and a high degree of dependency of today's society on sophisticated technological services ...

Networked, distributed energy resources
2008 34th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2008Renewable energy sources (RES) often share two disadvantageous features: they produce energy whenever they want and wherever they want. Alternative primary sources like wind or solar radiation may be available only at remote locations. In the case of off-shore wind farms, expensive high voltage DC lines might be necessary to transport the gained ...

Using Distributed Energy Resources
Distributed Generation & Alternative Energy Journal, 2002This article was derived from the U.S. DOE, Federal Energy Man-agement Program (FEMP) guide of the same name by the editor-in-chief.This “how-to guide” was designed to define distributed energy re-sources (DER) and to assist federal facility and energy managers in as-sessing DER at their facilities. Every attempt has been made to be trueto the original
