Privacy-Preserving Distributed Coordination of Distributed Energy Resources
2020 59th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2020In this paper, we consider the problem of optimally coordinating the response of a set of distributed energy resources (DERs) for serving the needs of a set of electrical loads while protecting the privacy of consumer usage data. The DERs are coordinated via a distributed approach that relies on an averaging step for guiding DERs towards the optimal ...

Energy trading system of distributed resources
2017 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC), 2017Distributed Energy Resource (DER) is a small-scale power generator which can be distributed in near power consumption areas. A high ratio of DERs increases management complexity and also decreases supply stability of electric power. However, if DERs are suitably used, they can improve reliability shown in conventional electric power generation ...

LV distribution system modelling for distributed energy resources
2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC), 2016A key issue in LV distribution system management and control is to increase the flexibility of the existing networks so as to allow a large spread of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). In this perspective, virtual levels of aggregation, called Virtual Microgrids (VMs), are introduced, which are composed of parts of the distribution networks including

The previous chapter focused on the role of conventional power plants, sending power to customers who may be hundreds or thousands of miles away, using centralized control systems to continuously balance supply with constantly changing demand. These are large, centralized assets, located on the utility side of the meter, designed to satisfy power ...

A Communication Viewpoints of Distributed Energy Resource
2017Smart Grid provides a flexible and powerful framework to integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DER). DER consisting of energy sources (such as renewable, conventional, storage) and loads. Based on application, there can be different modes of operating. It can operate in parallel with, or independently from, the main grid. Because of social, economic,

Evolutionary Optimisation of Distributed Energy Resources
2005Genetic optimisation is used to minimise operational costs across a system of electrical loads and generators controlled by local intelligent agents and connected to the electricity grid at market rates. Experimental results in a simulated environment show that coordinated market-sensitive behaviours are achieved.
