Bioinspired Hierarchically Interconnected Supermacroporous Hydrogels via Dual‐Templating for Rapid Atmospheric Water Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by lung alveolar architecture, a dual‐templating strategy combining CO2 bubble and ice templating creates mechanically robust super‐macroporous hydrogels with highly interconnected transport pathways. The resulting material achieves 3.37× faster moisture sorption and 1.72× higher solar‐driven water release than single‐templated counterparts ...

Harmonic reduction as ancillary service by inverters for distributed energy resources (der) in electricity distribution networks

open access: yes, 2007
Can inverters for Distributed Energy Resources (DER) contribute to the reduction of harmonic in electricity distribution networks? In theory they can, however one must not underestimate the effort to be taken in practice, to override issues like reducing the output capacitance of the inverter itself. In this paper computer simulations will give insight

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Single‐Step Recovery of Water from Stable Crude Oil‐Water Emulsion Using Surface Engineered Hybrid Inorganic‐Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic layer deposition is used to conformally surface engineer polymeric membranes to fabricate inorganic–organic hybrid membranes. These membranes have exceptionally strong attraction toward water even in high oil containing emulsions, which leads to an extremely strong hydration layer at the interface.

A Novel Modified Petroresin Particle (MPRP) With Enhanced Oil–Water Selectivity for Cold Production in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel oil–water selective conformance control agent, MPRP, is prepared via hydrophilic grafting and mechanical granulation. MPRP uniformly disperses in water, cohesively expands upon aging, and readily dissolves in the oil phase. During conformance control, it selectively aggregates in water channeling pathways to form effective plugs without ...

Interface Engineering via Sb2Te3 Deposition Enables High‐Performance SWCNT Film Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
SWCNTs are promising for flexible thermoelectrics but suffer from low performance. Here, cold‐pressed SWCNT films combined with deposited Sb2Te3 form engineered interfaces that enhance charge transport and energy filtering. The composite achieves a high power factor (25.82 µW cm−1 K−2) and delivers a power density of 3 mW cm−2 at ΔT = 40 K, with ...
