Sick leave in the United Kingdom Post Office, 1850–1908
Abstract This paper uses a large individual‐record‐level dataset on sick leave to examine adult morbidity in the United Kingdom between 1850 and 1908. From 1859 onwards postal workers were eligible to receive a pension or gratuity when they retired or were forced to stop working due to ill health.

The first bear raid and squeeze: Isaac Le Maire and the Dutch East India Company
Abstract In 1609, the Dutch East India Company (VOC) faced a bear raid by a syndicate of short sellers led by Isaac Le Maire, a former director. We reconstruct the forward trade between 1607 and 1611, the actions taken by the syndicate members, and the responses to these actions by the company.
