Infection control in the brain and the eye
Abstract The Central Nervous System (CNS), comprising the brain and the eye, is considered to have a ‘privileged’ mechanism for dealing with immunological challenge (immune privilege, IP). CNS IP has been revealed through experiments using foreign protein antigens and cell and tissue alloantigens (grafts), but evidence for a role for IP in modulating ...

Reproducible Data Analysis With R in Laboratory Hematology
ABSTRACT Laboratory hematology generates large, complex datasets that increasingly exceed the capabilities of traditional spreadsheet‐based analytical workflows. Despite their familiarity, spreadsheets obscure analytical logic, encourage manual data manipulation, and lack durable records of analytical steps, limiting transparency, auditability, and ...

This work explores the possibility to design stable periodic magnetization textures by transforming a 2D film into a rolled‐up 3D architecture and back. In case of an isotropic exchange‐biased layer architecture, the magnetization encoded in the 3D state evolves into a spin‐spiral pattern with controlled periodicity after unrolling.

Safety considerations of gene‐based therapies for Alzheimer's disease
Abstract Gene‐based therapies show increasing promise for the treatment of neurologic disease. In 2016, nusinersen, an RNA‐based therapy, was approved for children with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Over 200 clinical trials have utilized gene therapy approaches for a host of neurodegenerative and neuromuscular disorders, including Alzheimer's disease (
