Measuring distribution in distributed representations

Neural Processing Letters, 1996
The concept of distribution is often encountered in neural network architectures without any formal quantification. A method of quantifying the amount of distribution present in the hidden layer representations of a feed-forward network with binary inputs is described.

Measurements of a distributed file system

ACM SIGOPS Operating Systems Review, 1991
We analyzed the user-level file access patterns and caching behavior of the Sprite distributed file system. The first part of our analysis repeated a study done in 1985 of the: BSD UNIX file system. We found that file throughput has increased by a factor of 20 to an average of 8 Kbytes per second per active user over 10-minute intervals, and that the ...

Canonical and measured phase distributions

Physical Review A, 1995
We derive relationships between canonical and measured phase distributions for quantum-oscillator states in the semiclassical regime. First, we extend the formalism for the canonical phase to include external measurement-induced uncertainty. We require that a phase shifter shifts a phase distribution while a number shifter does not change it.

Statistical Distribution of the Measure of Coherence

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2006
The recent papers by Miranda de Sa (2001) and Miranda de Sa (2004) proposed a new measure of coherence between two signals. In this paper, we derive the exact probability density function and moments of the measure. We also provide simple programs for computing the associated cumulative distribution function and percentile points as well as for ...

Distributions and Measures

1982
In this lengthy chapter we are going to initiate the investigation of one way of handling and accounting for trigonometric series $$\sum\limits_{n \in Z} {{c_n}{e^{inx}}}$$ (12.1) in which the coefficients c n are subject merely to a relatively mild restriction on their rate of growth, namely, $${c_{{\text{n}}}} = O(|n{|^{k}})(|n|\to ...

Distributed and synchronized measurements with FlockLab

Proceedings of the 10th ACM Conference on Embedded Network Sensor Systems, 2012
Developing, testing, debugging, and evaluating communication protocols for low-power wireless networks is a long and cumbersome task. Simulators can be helpful in the early stages of development, but their models of hardware components and the wireless channel are often rather simplistic and hence cannot substitute experiments on real sensor node ...

Measures and Distributions

1982
The concept of a distribution, as given in this chapter, is one that occurs repeatedly in mathematics, especially in the theory of cyclotomic fields. As we shall see, many ideas from Chapters 4, 5, 7, and 8 fit into this general framework. The related concept of a measure yields a p-adic integration theory which allows us to interpret the p-adic L ...
