Mobile distributed compressive sensing for spectrum sensing
2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014This paper studies the effect of mobility on the sensing performance of a cognitive radio network with mobile nodes. The secondary nodes sense the spectrum using a distributed compressive sensing approach to detect the available channels. Distributed compressive sensing is suggested to reduce the number of samples by exploiting correlation between the ...

On the sensitivity of distributed acoustic sensing
Optics Letters, 2016In distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) an optical fiber is transformed into an array of thousands of "virtual microphones." Most current DAS methodologies are based on coherent interference of Rayleigh backscattered light and thus are prone to signal fading. Hence, the sensitivities of the "microphones" fluctuate randomly along the fiber.

The specification of distributed sensing and control
Journal of Robotic Systems, 1985AbstractLogical Sensor System Specification (LSS) has been introduced as a convenient means for specifying multi‐sensor systems and their implementations. In this article we demonstrate how control issues can be handled in the context of LSS. In particular, the Logical Sensor Specification is extended to include a control mechanism which permits ...

Distributed compressive video sensing
2009 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2009Low-complexity video encoding has been applicable to several emerging applications. Recently, distributed video coding (DVC) has been proposed to reduce encoding complexity to the order of that for still image encoding. In addition, compressive sensing (CS) has been applicable to directly capture compressed image data efficiently.

Sparse Sensing for Distributed Detection
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2016An offline sampling design problem for distributed detection is considered in this paper. To reduce the sensing, storage, transmission, and processing costs, the natural choice for the sampler is the sparsest one that results in a desired global error probability.

Compressed Sensing for Distributed Systems
2015This book presents a survey of the state-of-the art in the exciting and timely topic of compressed sensing for distributed systems. It has to be noted that, while compressed sensing has been studied for some time now, its distributed applications are relatively new.

Distributed Generation and Sensing for Intelligent Distributed Microgrids
2006 IEEE/SMC International Conference on System of Systems Engineering, 2006Areas for near-term and long-term research in joint industry-academia projects for development of intelligent distributed microgrids are presented. Advanced concepts for intelligent adaptive power grids with distributed intelligence is a longer term objective of intelligent distributed microgrids. The near-term objective is the modeling and analysis of

Distributed allocation of the sensing times for cooperative spectrum sensing
2012 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC), 2012In cognitive radio systems, the sparse assigned frequency bands are opened to secondary users. We consider the sensing of the frequency spectrum for cognitive radios, based on energy detection. It has been shown that the sensing reliability can be improved by using several cooperating cognitive radios that exchange their individual sensing information ...

Differentially private distributed sensing
2016 IEEE 3rd World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT), 2016The growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) creates the possibility of decentralized systems of sensing and actuation, potentially on a global scale. IoT devices connected to cloud networks can offer sensing and actuation as a service enabling networks of sensors to grow to a global scale.
