Rate-adaptive polar codes for distributed source coding

Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication, 2012
In this paper, we consider how polar codes can be used for distributed source coding configuration regardless of the statistical dependency of correlated binary sources. The polar code encoder transmits the syndrome bits which have high entropy first to the decoder for optimal compression.

Distributed Source Coding with Optimized Irregular Turbo Codes

2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
We address the problem of distributed source coding of binary sources with side information at the decoder. We propose a compression scheme using irregular turbo codes. We optimize them by maximizing the distance between the two curves of their EXIT charts for given statistics and a compression rate close to the Slepian-Wolf limit in order to increase ...

Distributed source coding using serially-concatenated-accumulate codes

Manufacturing Engineer, 2005
We describe a practical method for distributed compression of q-ary sources using multi-level serially concatenated-accumulate codes. Our approach works well at high compression rates, and allows for graceful and incremental rate-adaptivity. Simulations show that the compression efficiency is near the information-theoretic limits for correlations ...

Distributed Source Coding Using Symbol-Based Turbo Codes

23rd Biennial Symposium on Communications, 2006, 2006
A simple but powerful scheme for distributed source coding based on the concept of binning and symbol-based turbo codes is proposed. The previous works on the compression with side information (SI) using turbo codes and the binning technique are focused on binary turbo codes.
