A Multicircle Planar Electrical Impedance Tomography Sensor for 3-D Miniature Imaging

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2023
In this article, a multicircle planar electrical impedance tomography (EIT) sensor is proposed for three-dimensional (3-D) miniature imaging. There are two problems in 3-D miniature EIT imaging: 1) the spatial resolution is low since the number of ...

Comparison of Machine Learning-Based Methods for High Impedance Fault Detection in Distribution Systems

IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe, 2023
High Impedance Faults (HIFs) occur when an energized conductor contacts a high-impedance surface. They are critical events in Distribution Systems (DSs) as they may cause bushfires, endanger living beings, and there is no fully efficient HIF Detection ...

The input impedance of a thin dipole with sinusoidal surface current distribution by the Poynting vector method

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1995
The input impedance of a thin (a/spl Lt//spl lambda/) center-fed dipole with an assumed sinusoidal surface current distribution is obtained by the Poynting vector method. It is shown that by retaining the surface current distribution rather than replacing it by the classical equivalent line current on the dipole axis, the Poynting vector method can be ...

Small-Scale Beam Scanning with an Ultrathin High Impedance Surface-Based Leaky Wave Antenna with Multiple Feeds

Intelligent Memory Systems, 2020
An ultrathin antenna of thickness nearly 100th of the wavelength is presented, which is capable of providing small-scale beam steering. The antenna is inspired by concepts used in high impedance surfaces (HISs) A linear array antenna comprised of ...

Current distribution and input impedance of a circular loop antenna located on the surface of a gyromagnetic cylinder

2018 Days on Diffraction (DD), 2018
Electrodynamic characteristics of a strip loop antenna located on the surface of a gyromagnetic cylinder are studied using the integral equation method. The cylinder is aligned with the gyrotropy axis and surrounded by an isotropic magnetodielectric medium. A rigorous solution for the antenna current excited by a time-harmonic given voltage is obtained.

A Distributed High-Impedance Fault Detection and Protection Scheme in DC Microgrids

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery
This paper proposes a high-impedance fault (HIF) detection and protection scheme for DC microgrids. HIFs occur when a (live) conductor makes contact with a surface which restricts the flow of fault current to a level that cannot be reliably sensed ...

Wide Gain-Bandwidth from an Ultrathin High Impedance Surface-Based Leaky Wave Antenna using Multi-Feed Excitation

SoutheastCon, 2020
This paper presents a technique for obtaining wide gain-bandwidth from an ultrathin leaky wave-based high impedance surface (HIS) antenna. By properly selecting multiple feed locations over a linear dogbone-shaped patch array antenna, its gain bandwidth ...

Optimizing the magnetic and giant magneto-impedance (GMI) properties of glass-coated amorphous Co-based wires via single- and two-step direct current annealing

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2022
The effects of both single- and two-step direct current (DC) annealing procedures on the magnetic properties (including the giant magneto-impedance (GMI)) of glass-coated Co66Fe6Si13B15 amorphous wires were evaluated.

An Examination of Sensing Skins with Tailored Conductivity Distributions for Enhanced 2-D Surface Temperature Measurements Using Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT)

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2023
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">For 2D surface temperature monitoring applications, a variant of Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) was evaluated computationally in this study. Literature examples of poor sensor performance in the center of the 2D domains away from the side electrodes motivated these efforts
