Influence of Electrophysical Parameters of Magnetodielectric Layer on a PCP on Its Electrodynamic Characteristics

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
Within the framework of the impedance concept, approximate analytical formulas for the distributed surface impedance of the magnetodielectric layer with the inhomogeneous permeability and permittivity located on a perfectly conducting plane (PCP) for the

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Non-Enzymatic Impedimetric Sensor Based on 3-Aminophenylboronic Acid Functionalized Screen-Printed Carbon Electrode for Highly Sensitive Glucose Detection

open access: yesSensors, 2019
A highly sensitive glucose sensor was prepared by a one-step method using 3-aminophenyl boronic acid as a unit of recognition and a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) as an electrochemical transducer.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Digital Sensing Systems for Electromyography

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering
Surface electromyogram (EMG) signals find diverse applications in movement rehabilitation and human-computer interfacing. For instance, future advanced prostheses, which use artificial intelligence, will require EMG signals recorded from several sites on

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Electrochemical Performance of Activated Carbon Derived from Treated Food-Waste

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2015
This work reports on the physical characteristics and electrochemical properties of the carbon derived from treated food-waste as electrode material. The eco-green carbon was produced by means of chemical activation using phosphoric acid as activating ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
