Integrating Distributed Algorithms into Distributed Systems [PDF]
A distributed algorithm is often used as a part of a larger distributed system. Usually, the properties of an algorithm are proven for the algorithm in isolation. Then, it is not obvious how the algorithm behaves when integrated into a larger system. In this paper, we present a simple technique which allows to derive properties of an algorithm which is

On a System of Discrete Distributions
Biometrika, 1967Using the difference equation analogous to Pearson's differential equation, a system of discreate distributions is developed. This is found to contain many of the distributions in common usage. The choice of distribution usually depends on only the first three moments. Some examples are given.

Dissipative distributed systems
Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.00CH37187), 2002Deals with systems described by constant coefficient linear partial differential equations. We define dissipativity with respect to a quadratic differential form, i.e., a quadratic functional in the system variables and their partial derivatives. The main result states the equivalence of dissipativity and the existence of a storage function or of a ...
