On transaction parallelizability in Ethereum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Ethereum clients execute transactions in a sequential order prescribed by the consensus protocol. This is a safe and conservative approach to blockchain transaction processing which forgoes running transactions in parallel even when doing so would be beneficial and safe, e.g., when there is no intersection in the sets of accounts that the transactions ...

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

A Blockchain Consensus Mechanism to Optimize Reputation-Based Distributed Energy Trading in Urban Energy System

open access: yesIEEE Access
In modern cities, consumers with distributed energy resources (DERs) can trade energy by managing their consumption and supply. Blockchain is considered to provide technical support for establishing a distributed energy market, while the current ...

An Algebraic-Topological Approach to Processing Cross-Blockchain Transactions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The state-of-the-art techniques for processing cross-blockchain transactions take a simple centralized approach: when the assets on blockchain $X$, say $X$-coins, are exchanged with the assets on blockchain $Y$---the $Y$-coins, those $X$-coins need to be exchanged to a "middle" medium (such as Bitcoin) that is then exchanged to $Y$-coins.

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Warp: Lightweight Multi-Key Transactions for Key-Value Stores [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Traditional NoSQL systems scale by sharding data across multiple servers and by performing each operation on a small number of servers. Because transactions on multiple keys necessarily require coordination across multiple servers, NoSQL systems often explicitly avoid making transactional guarantees in order to avoid such coordination.

TransNFV: Integrating Transactional Semantics for Efficient State Management in Virtual Network Functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Managing shared mutable states in high concurrency state access operations is a persistent challenge in Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). This is particularly true when striving to meet chain output equivalence (COE) requirements. This paper presents TransNFV, an innovative NFV framework that incorporates transactional semantics to optimize NFV ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

A Fair and Resilient Decentralized Clock Network for Transaction Ordering [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Traditional blockchain design gives miners or validators full control over transaction ordering, i.e., they can freely choose which transactions to include or exclude, as well as in which order. While not an issue initially, the emergence of decentralized finance has introduced new transaction order dependencies allowing parties in control of the ...

Performance Testing of Distributed Component Architectures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Performance characteristics, such as response time, throughput andscalability, are key quality attributes of distributed applications. Current practice, however, rarely applies systematic techniques to evaluate performance characteristics. We argue that ...
