Quantitative Reconstruction of Absorption Coefficients for Photoacoustic Tomography

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Photoacoustic (PA) tomography (PAT) is a cutting-edge imaging modality for visualizing the internal structure and light-absorption distribution in tissue. However, reconstruction of the absorption distribution has been limited by nonuniform light fluence.

Gluon bremsstrahlung by heavy quarks - its effects on transport coefficients and equilibrium distribution

open access: yes, 2013
The effects of gluon radiation by charm quarks on the transport coefficients {\it e.g.} drag, longitudinal and transverse diffusion and shear viscosity have been studied within the ambit of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) and kinetic theory ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Fluctuating Initial Conditions and Anisotropic Flows

open access: yes, 2011
In this work we study the connection between anisotropic flows and lumpy initial conditions for Au+Au collisions at 200GeV. We present comparisons between anisotropic flow coefficients and eccentricities up to sixth order, and between initial condition ...

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Lossy compression of discrete sources via Viterbi algorithm

open access: yes, 2010
We present a new lossy compressor for discrete-valued sources. For coding a sequence $x^n$, the encoder starts by assigning a certain cost to each possible reconstruction sequence.
