Imaging plasticity and structure of cortical maps in cat and mouse visual cortex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The study reported in the first part of this thesis utilized optical imaging of intrinsic signals to visualize changes in orientation maps in cat visual cortex induced by pairing a visual stimulus with an intracortical electrical stimulation.

Mapping the global distribution of trachoma. [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the World Health Organization, 2005
We aimed to summarize and map the existing global population-based data on active trachoma and trichiasis. Detailed distribution maps of various infectious diseases have proved a valuable tool in their control. Such maps play an important role in assessing the magnitude of the problem, defining priority areas for control, monitoring changes, and ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Distributed Robotic Radiation Mapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We develop a control scheme to coordinate a group of mobile sensors for radiation mapping of a given planar polygon region. The scheme is based on the concept of information surfing, where navigation is done by following information gradients, taking into account sensing performance as well as dynamics of the observed process. The control scheme steers

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Using data and maps to inform vaccine distribution and implementation [PDF]

open access: yes
To improve vaccination among populations of interest, jurisdictions must know where these groups of people are located to ensure they provide access to vaccination services.
