NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

On the mathematical quantification of inequality in probability distributions

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications
Abstract A fundamental challenge in the study of probability distributions is the quantification of inequality that is inherently present in them. Some parts of the distribution are more probable and some others are not, and we are interested in the quantification of this inequality through the lens of mathematical diversity, which is a ...

Low‐Loss Far‐Infrared Surface Phonon Polaritons in Suspended SrTiO3 Nanomembranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The low‐loss, highly confined, and thickness‐tunable surface phonon polaritons are demonstrated in the far‐infrared regime within transferable freestanding SrTiO3 membranes, achieving high figures of merit comparable to the previous record values from the vdW materials.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Tunable Thermoshrinkable Hydrogels for 4D Fabrication of Cell‐Seeded Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoresponsive polymer with methacrylate groups for photo‐cross‐linking, based on polyethylene glycol, N‐isopropylacrylamide, and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate is synthetized to yield hydrogels that shrink upon temperature increase. The new polymer enables the fabrication of cell‐laden perfusable channels with diameters below 200 µm by combining ...

Machine Learning meets Number Theory: The Data Science of Birch-Swinnerton-Dyer [PDF]

open access: yes
Empirical analysis is often the first step towards the birth of a conjecture. This is the case of the Birch-Swinnerton-Dyer (BSD) Conjecture describing the rational points on an elliptic curve, one of the most celebrated unsolved problems in mathematics.

1D Light‐Emitting MAPbBr3 Perovskite Encapsulated in Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Encapsulation of MAPbBr3 perovskite in single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) yields a hybrid nanomaterial with distinctive optoelectronic properties. Perovskite confinement induces a unified single‐peak photoluminescence (PL) with a reduced lifetime, while charge transfer alters the optical properties of nanotubes.
