Planning of distributed generation dispatch in distribution networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The volume of Distributed Generation (DG) capacity connected to distribution networks is growing quickly worldwide. Due to the inherent variable nature of renewable sources, such as wind or hydro, or low-carbon technologies, such as CHP, contracts are based on energy produced rather than power availability.

Optimized Cell Planning for Network Slicing in Heterogeneous Wireless Communication Networks

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a cell planning scheme to maximize the resource efficiency of a wireless communication network while considering quality-of-service requirements imposed by different mobile services.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Multi-Stage Rolling Grid Expansion Planning for Distribution Networks Considering Conditional Value at Risk

open access: yesEnergies
Existing single-stage planning and multi-stage non-rolling planning methods for distribution networks have problems such as low equipment utilization efficiency and poor investment benefits.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

UMTS Network Planning - The Impact of User Mobility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The impact of user mobility on network planning is investigated. For a system of two base stations the stationary distribution of a Markov chain, including mobility, is ...

Layered Fabrication of Branched Networks Using Lindenmayer Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A current challenge impeding the growth of bone tissue engineering is the lack of functional scaffolds of geometric sizes greater than 10mm due to the inability of cells to survive deep within the scaffold.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Global priorities for conservation across multiple dimensions of mammalian diversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Conservation priorities that are based on species distribution, endemism, and vulnerability may underrepresent biologically unique species as well as their functional roles and evolutionary histories.
