Distributed transmission expansion planning in multi-area electric power systems
2016 IEEE Power & Energy Society Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference (ISGT), 2016This paper presents a distributed transmission expansion planning (TEP) approach for multi-area power systems. A local TEP is formulated for each area with respect to local characteristics of that area as well as power flow in existing and candidate tie-lines that interconnect the area with its neighbors.

A Methodology for the Development of a Subsea Electrical Power Transmission and Distribution System
Offshore Technology Conference, 2013Abstract Since subsea power demand is increasing due to the growth of Subsea Processing and Boosting Systems application and longer tie-back scenarios, a more effective way to feed subsea loads shall be developed. Currently, power distribution is performed topside in one of the production platform ...

At present, the world energy industry is focused on creating intelligent distribution electric networks with management on the energy Internet platform. To solve this problem, a model circuit of an intelligent distribution radial electric network was developed, for controlling parameters in normal and post-accident modes of which, it is proposed to use

Transmission and Distribution Grounding in The Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1951Accepted grounding methods have been modified for use in areas having difficult grounding conditions. Satisfactory transmission line grounding in rocky areas is obtained economically where the improved methods are followed. Long rods are effective in reducing distribution neutral voltages to an acceptable sustained maximum of 15 volts, which introduces

Adequacy evaluation in generation, transmission and distribution systems of an electric power system
IEEE WESCANEX 93 Communications, Computers and Power in the Modern Environment - Conference Proceedings, 2002Reliability analysis is not usually conducted on a complete power system, and reliability evaluations of generating facilities, transmission systems, and of distribution system segments are usually conducted independently. The reliability indices obtained for each segment are then used to make decisions. A more realistic procedure involves categorizing

Controlling electrical power losses in transmission and distribution networks in Nigeria
Journal of Applied Science and Technology, 2010Electrical power losses in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) networks in Nigeria have been examined to det-ermine the high technical and non-technical losses associated with the system, and the control measures to man-age the losses. Very long and over-aged T&D lines, unequal phase loads, inadequate reactive compensation and energy theft contributed ...

2011: Focus on Industries and Markets Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Equipment
2016The US electrical grid is in dire need of upgrading, but as is the case with infrastructure in general, the process is slow. Beyond the debate over energy sources for generating power, there is also a strong debate about the development of the next-generation electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) network.
