Optimal planning of photovoltaic and distribution static compensators in medium-voltage networks via the GNDO approach

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This research employs the generalized normal distribution optimizer (GNDO) to address the simultaneous integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) sources and distribution static compensators (D-STATCOMs) in medium-voltage distribution networks.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Genetic-Convex Model for Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation in Distribution Networks Using D-STATCOMs

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper proposes a new hybrid master–slave optimization approach to address the problem of the optimal placement and sizing of distribution static compensators (D-STATCOMs) in electrical distribution grids.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Hybrid HVDC for supply of power to offshore oil platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A HVDC hybrid system, comprising a line commutated thyristor HVDC converter and a STATCOM, is proposed in this paper for supplying power to offshore oil platforms that do not have their own generation. The proposed system combines the robust performance,

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Optimal Reactive Power Compensation via D-STATCOMs in Electrical Distribution Systems by Applying the Generalized Normal Distribution Optimizer

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2023
This research deals with the problem regarding the optimal siting and sizing of distribution static compensators (D-STATCOMs) via the application of a master–slave optimization technique. The master stage determines the nodes where the D-STATCOMs must be
