PTCH mutations: distribution and analyses
Human Mutation, 2006Mutations in the PTCH (PTCH1) gene are the underlying cause of nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS), and are also found in many different sporadic tumors in which PTCH is thought to act as a tumor suppressor gene. To investigate the distribution pattern of these mutations in tumors and NBCCS, we analyzed 284 mutations and 48 SNPs located in the

Analysing cache effects in distribution sorting
ACM Journal of Experimental Algorithmics, 1999We study cache effects in distribution sorting algorithms for sorting keys drawn independently at random from a uniform distribution ('uniform keys'). We note that the performance of a recently-published distribution sorting algorithm, Flashsort1, which sorts n uniform floating-point keys in O(n) expected time ...

Analysing open birth interval distributions
Population Studies, 1984Summary This paper began with the recognition that open birth interval distributions are analogous to age distributions. It then became clear that closed birth interval distributions are, somewhat more loosely, analogous to mortality schedules, and that the relationship between open and closed birth interval distributions could be explored by ...

Plasmid distribution and analyses in Rhodopseudomonas sphaeroides
Plasmid, 1984Ten strains of Rhodopseudomonas sphaeroides were analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis for plasmid DNA content and, by filter-hybridizations, for their molecular relationships. All strains examined contained at least one plasmid. Several strains carried as many as six different plasmid species with sizes ranging from 42 to 140 kilobases (kb).

Distribution Analyses of Acquired Melanocytic Naevi on the Trunk
Dermatology, 2014Acquired melanocytic naevi (AMN) are a well-known risk factor for the development of melanoma. Whereas previous studies have reviewed AMN distributions on individual body sites, the clinical distribution of AMN on the adult trunk has not been thoroughly investigated. We studied 40 participants with 1,282 naevi >5 mm, of which 781 were located on the

A method of analysing bird distributions
African Journal of Ecology, 1986SummaryAn adaptation of simple species‐counts of birds can be used to obtain a reliable indication of relative abundance, referred to here as the B‐index. A series of fifteen counts at each site is needed, covering all seasons. Counts can be made at any time of day, but this should be varied. The method is shown to be particularly useful in comparing a

A cumulative probability distribution analyser
Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 1963A simple analyser capable of portraying the cumulative probability distribution of random and deterministic signals is described. The instrument uses standard analogue computing elements and examples are shown of its application to a variety of signals.

Analysing distributed feedback waveguides
IEE Proceedings - Optoelectronics, 1999A method for analysing distributed feedback waveguides with arbitrary refractive index profiles is reported. The method considers a waveguide as a number of segments within which the reflection is weak, and thus the relevant transmission loss and multiple reflections can be neglected.

Analyses of the global distribution of precipitation
Dynamics of Atmospheres and Oceans, 1991Abstract The global distribution of area-averaged precipitation is extremely difficult to determine with precision. In this paper we will explain why satellite measurements are necessary for the production of global analyses of precipitation, summarize some of the various methods which have been used to estimate rainfall from satellite observations ...
