Multimodal Grounding for Language Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This survey discusses how recent developments in multimodal processing facilitate conceptual grounding of language. We categorize the information flow in multimodal processing with respect to cognitive models of human information processing and analyze ...

SKOOTS: Skeleton‐Oriented Object Segmentation for Mitochondria in High‐Resolution Cochlear EM Datasets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Skeleton‐oriented object segmentation (SKOOTS) introduces a new strategy for 3D mitochondrial instance segmentation by predicting explicit skeletons rather than relying on boundary cues. This approach enables robust analysis of densely packed organelles in large FIB‐SEM datasets.

Possibility of Extracting Semantic Associates of Russian Verbs by the Instrument RusVectōrēs

open access: yesНаучный диалог, 2018
The paper presents the results of investigating distributional semantics’ potential in its realization in the form Web-service RusVectōrēs. The question about applying the service for studying semantics of Russian verbs is considered.

Lexical and Derivational Meaning in Vector-Based Models of Relativisation

open access: yes, 2017
Sadrzadeh et al (2013) present a compositional distributional analysis of relative clauses in English in terms of the Frobenius algebraic structure of finite dimensional vector spaces.

IIT-TUDA at SemEval-2016 Task 5: Beyond Sentiment Lexicon: Combining Domain Dependency and Distributional Semantics Features for Aspect Based Sentiment Analysis

open access: yesInternational Workshop on Semantic Evaluation, 2016
This paper reports the IIT-TUDA participation in the SemEval 2016 shared Task 5 of Aspect Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA) for sub-task 1. We describe our system incorporating domain dependency graph features, distributional thesaurus and unsupervised ...

Emergent Semantics in Distributed Knowledge Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Organizations and enterprises have developed complex data and information exchange systems that are now vital for their daily operations. Currently available systems, however, face a major challenge. On todays global information infrastructure, data semantics is more and more context- and time-dependent, and cannot be fixed once and for all at design ...

Cognitive Trajectories from Preclinical Alzheimer's Disease to Dementia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A continuous, multi‐domain characterization of cognitive decline across the Alzheimer's disease spectrum identifies when individual cognitive measures become abnormal. Episodic memory declines first, followed by executive function, language, processing speed, and visuospatial abilities, supporting improved clinical interpretation and optimized endpoint

A Framework for Distributional Formal Semantics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Formal semantics and distributional semantics offer complementary strengths in capturing the meaning of natural language. As such, a considerable amount of research has sought to unify them, either by augmenting formal semantic systems with a distributional component, or by defining a formal system on top of distributed representations.

Design of Safe and Efficient Adenine Base Editors via Protein Language Model Screening for Osteoarthritis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Base editors enable precise genome modification and have emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for correcting diseases caused by single‐nucleotide variants. While the current efficient version of adenine base editors (ABEs), such as ABE8e, exhibits exceptional efficiency for A‐to‐G conversions, their clinical translation is hindered by ...
