Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Analysis of Operators with Complex Gaussian Kernels over (ℝ): Abelian Theorems

open access: yesAxioms
This paper investigates Abelian theorems for operators with complex Gaussian kernels over distributions of compact support. Furthermore, our investigation encompasses an examination of the Gauss–Weierstrass semigroup, the linear canonical transform, and ...

Entropic and displacement interpolation: a computational approach using the Hilbert metric [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Monge-Kantorovich optimal mass transport (OMT) provides a blueprint for geometries in the space of positive densities -- it quantifies the cost of transporting a mass distribution into another. In particular, it provides natural options for interpolation

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

New Advances in Index Whittaker Transforms

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we establish new Lp-boundedness results and derive novel Parseval–Goldstein relations for the index Whittaker transform. Additionally, we obtain Abelian theorems for the distributional index Whittaker transform applied to distributions ...

Offsets between X-Ray and Radio Components in X-Ray Jets: The AtlasX

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
The X-ray emission mechanism of powerful extragalactic jets—which has important implications for their environmental impacts—is poorly understood. The X-ray/radio positional offsets in the individual features of jets provide important clues.

Optical spectroscopy of 20 Be/X-ray Binaries in the Small Magellanic Cloud

open access: yes, 2009
We present a large sample (20 in total) of optical spectra of Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) High-Mass X-ray Binaries obtained with the 2dF spectrograph at the Anglo-Australian Telescope.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

New Inversion Formulae for the Widder–Lambert and Stieltjes–Poisson Transforms

open access: yesAxioms
This paper establishes explicit inversion formulae for the Widder–Lambert transform and the Stieltjes–Poisson transform, extending their applicability to function spaces and compactly supported distributions.

On the Use of High-resolution Time-frequency Distribution Based on a Polynomial Compact Support Kernel for Fault Detection in a Two-level Inverter

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2020
Quadratic Time-Frequency Distributions (TFDs) become a standard tool in many fields producing nonstationary signatures. However, these representations suffer from two drawbacks: First, bad time-frequency localization of the signal's autoterms due to the unavoidable crossterms generated by the bilinear form of these distributions.
