Cooling needs for a warming world? Economics and governance of district cooling [PDF]
Energy use outlook in developed countries shows a particularly fast growing component: the demand for cooling. This demand of energy for indoor air conditioning represents a challenge for environmental policies, a potential enemy of energy efficiency and energy saving and, definitely, an issue at stake for global climate policies.

Mapping of Turkey’s District Heating/Cooling Requirements
One of the most important parameters of energy efficiency is to determine the heating and cooling requirements of the buildings and to develop the appropriate heating/cooling technology. In this study, the regional residence heating/cooling loads were determined in order to develop technology for regional heating/cooling systems in Turkey.

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Optimization of Solar District Heating & Cooling Systems
Abstract The present work proposes a comparison between three solar-powered district heating and cooling systems, namely: 1) centralized district heating & cooling (DHC) system; 2) 5th-generation district heating & cooling (5GDHC) system and 3) individual AC plants (HHC, Home Heating and Cooling), in different climate conditions.

Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...
