Transmission intensity disturbance in a rotating polarizer
Optics Communications, 2008Random disturbance was observed in transmission intensity in various rotating prism polarizers when they were used in optical systems. As a result, the transmitted intensity exhibited cyclic significant deviation from the Malus cosine-squared law with rotation of prisms.

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2015In this letter, we introduce an improved phase-generated carrier (PGC) demodulation algorithm using reference compensation method to eliminate the influence of light intensity disturbance (LID) in interferometric fiber-optic sensors. In this method, the impacts of LID on acoustic signal and reference signal are the same.

Optik, 2011Abstract We have theoretically studied the transmission intensity disturbance in the spinning Lippich prism polarizer. Experimental results indicate that the variation of the transmission intensity with the rotation angle deviates from Malus’ cosine-squared law and exhibits stochastic fluctuations.
