Future frequency and intensity of Western Disturbance(s)
International Journal of Climatology, 2022AbstractWestern Disturbances (WDs) are the primary contributor of winter precipitation over the Western Himalayas (WH). The precipitation falling as snow is essential for Himalayan glaciers accumulation, contributing to Himalayan rivers supporting downstream population of the Indian subcontinent.

Delayed post-neonatal intensive care unit hearing disturbance
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, 1996Ten children, who developed hearing disturbance after discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), are reported. All were born at full term, between November 1988 and November 1992, weighed at least 2500 g and had normal auditory brainstem response (ABR) at discharge from the NICU. All ten underwent thorough evaluation to determine the cause

Disturbed memory and amnesia related to intensive care
Memory, 2000Patients, when admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU), have one thing in common: their illness is life-threatening. Patients may remain on ICU in a critical condition, needing support with their breathing, circulation, and/or kidneys for varying lengths of time, from days to weeks.

Transmission intensity disturbance in a rotating polarizer
Optics Communications, 2008Random disturbance was observed in transmission intensity in various rotating prism polarizers when they were used in optical systems. As a result, the transmitted intensity exhibited cyclic significant deviation from the Malus cosine-squared law with rotation of prisms.

Cross-lagged longitudinal analysis of pain intensity and sleep disturbance
Disability and Health Journal, 2020There is substantial evidence that pain intensity and sleep are related, with findings generally suggesting more support for the influence of sleep on pain intensity than vice versa. However, the strength and direction of the relationship has been found to vary among different populations, with few studies in individuals with chronic physical ...

The Nexus Between Sleep Disturbance and Delirium Among Intensive Care Patients
Critical Care Nursing Clinics of North America, 2021Sleep in intensive care is hampered due to many factors; the clinical environment itself exacerbates sleep disturbance. Research suggests that interventions aimed at improving sleep quality have produced positive effects in reducing incidences and duration of delirium.

Improved PGC demodulation algorithm to eliminate modulation depth and intensity disturbance
Applied Optics, 2022In this paper, an improved phase generated carrier (PGC) demodulation algorithm based on frequency mixing and division difference is proposed. The effects of phase modulation depth variation and light intensity disturbance of the light source on the demodulated phase signal are investigated theoretically and experimentally.
