Intensive day program for psychiatrically disturbed truant adolescents.
American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, 1998Results of a day treatment program tailored to psychiatrically disturbed truant adolescents were compared to those of traditional outpatient treatment for effects on truancy, psychiatric symptoms, global improvement, and global functioning. Significantly greater reductions of truancy were found in the day treatment program, along with significantly ...

Monitoring Acid-Base and Electrolyte Disturbances in Intensive Care
1989Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on monitoring acid-base and electrolyte disturbances in intensive care. The information obtained from biochemical investigations of patients in intensive care is exploited in an optimum way when certain conditions are met.

Sodium Disturbances Commonly Encountered in the Neurologic Intensive Care Unit
Journal of Pharmacy Practice, 2010Disorders of sodium and water balance are common in patients with central nervous system (CNS) disease. These disorders frequently complicate the treatment course by precipitating or worsening neurological symptoms. These patients are not only at risk for symptoms secondary to dysnatremia but also at risk from the consequences of treatment.

Food store disturbance as a seismic intensity indicator
Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1984Abstract The disturbance of shelf items in food stores can be an useful system for the reliable determination of seismic intensity. The reliability of the food store intensity ratings results from the similarity of food stores at many different places. Also, the amount of disturbance in a food store is easily determined.

Experimentally investigated sleep disturbance of intensive care unit sounds
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012Patients at intensive care often report fragmented sleep from noise due to care activities from personal, from other patients and alarms. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of original and modified intensive care noises on sleep in 15 healthy subjects.

Effect of Intensive Acoustic Disturbances on Subsonic Jets
2004The approach to the control of aerodynamic and acoustical characteristics of subsonic turbulent jets by means of weak acoustical disturbances was demonstrated in Chap. 2 and 3. In the present chapter we consider some results of experimental study for effects of intensive periodical and, particularly, acoustical disturbances on aerodynamic ...

Effect of disturbances on the convergence of failure intensity
13th International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering, 2002. Proceedings., 2003We report a study to determine the impact of four types of disturbances on the failure intensity of a software product undergoing system test. Hardware failures, discovery of a critical fault, attrition in the test team, are examples of disturbances that will likely affect the convergence of the failure intensity to its desired value. Such disturbances

Eliminating Light Intensity Disturbance With Reference Compensation in Interferometers
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2015In this letter, we introduce an improved phase-generated carrier (PGC) demodulation algorithm using reference compensation method to eliminate the influence of light intensity disturbance (LID) in interferometric fiber-optic sensors. In this method, the impacts of LID on acoustic signal and reference signal are the same.

Electrolyte disturbances in the intensive care unit.
Seminars in dialysis, 2007The development of many electrolyte disturbances in the ICU can be prevented by attention to the use of intravenous fluids and nutrition. Hyponatremia is a relative contraindication to the use of hypotonic intravenous fluids and hypernatremia calls for the administration of water.

Impacts on Cosmic-Ray Intensity Observed During Geomagnetic Disturbances
Solar Physics, 2017Geomagnetic disturbances are the results of interplanetary causes such as high-speed streamers (HSSs), interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs), corotating interaction regions (CIRs), and magnetic clouds. During different forms of geomagnetic disturbances, we observed changes in the count rate at neutron monitors that are kept at various locations.
