Think Globally, Model Locally: Complex Responses of Agricultural Water Supplies to Different Climate Projections

open access: yesJAWRA Journal of the American Water Resources Association, Volume 62, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Many resource management plans use ensembles of global climate models (GCMs) to represent a range of potential future climates. Hydrologic models are used to translate these climates into projections of water resources to evaluate their long‐term vulnerability.

Fishpond Water Potential on Vineyard Soil Health: An Exploratory Study of a Circular System

open access: yesHorticulturae
Climate variabilities continue to hinder sustainable food production with an increasing need to use resources such as water and soil efficiently. The quest for these efficiencies in agriculture systems drives innovations among farmers.

Reviewing the Levee Effect: From Theory to Practice

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ongoing development in flood‐prone areas has intensified focus on flood‐risk management strategies. Constructed flood protections, like levees, lead to a false sense of security. Resulting development behind levees paradoxically increases flood risk, referred to as the levee effect.

Mayfly Taxonomic and Functional Diversity in Anthropogenically Impacted Riverine Habitats: Influence of Habitat Morphology, Water Parameters and Fish Assemblages

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Freshwater habitats are globally threatened by various anthropogenic pressures, resulting in reduced habitat quality and diminished biodiversity. Due to their sensitivity to environmental change, mayflies are commonly used in biomonitoring programs worldwide.

WANet: A Wavelet-Attention Network for Accurate Ditch Extraction in Remote Sensing Imagery

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Ditches are important for the irrigation, drainage, and water resource regulation of agriculture. However, their narrow, linear, and fragmented morphologies pose significant challenges for remote sensing extraction.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FORMATION AND IRRIGATION OF IRRIGATION DITCHES BETWEEN THE VINE ROW

open access: yes
Recently, in a number of farms, ok-aryks have been replaced by flexible nylon pipelines with a hole for releasing water near each furrow. To lay and assemble them, they use a special device that is mounted on tractors. The use of nylon pipelines is promising, and even necessary in vineyards planted on slopes.

Concentration and Environmental Loading of Veterinary Antibiotics in Agricultural Irrigation Ditches

open access: yesKorean Journal of Soil Science and Fertilizer, 2012
The concentration of veterinary antibiotics in aqueous and sediment matrices was measured in agricultural irrigation ditches bordering several animal-feeding operations (AFOs) and then compared to its concentration in the watershed. Analytical determination in aqueous samples was based on solid phase extraction (SPE) and appropriate buffer solutions ...

Assessment of the nutrient pollution in some agricultural drainage ditch–pond systems with the QUAL2K: Model calibration and validation with field data

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
Agricultural drainage systems play a dual role, sustaining irrigation while exporting nutrients to downstream waters. In small-scale regions, ditch–pond networks are especially important, as they drive nitrogen and phosphorus losses that intensify ...
