THE COMBINABILITY OF MONOTRANSITIVE AND DITRANSITIVE VERBS
Transitive verbs are English verbs that take one or more objects. Monotransitive verbs take only a direct object. Ditransitive verbs take two objects, either a direct object and an indirect object or a direct object and an object complement.
