Diurnal Temperature Variation and Plants Drive Latitudinal Patterns in Seasonal Dynamics of Soil Microbial Community [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Seasonality, an exogenous driver, motivates the biological and ecological temporal dynamics of animal and plant communities. Underexplored microbial temporal endogenous dynamics hinders the prediction of microbial response to climate change. To elucidate

The influence of diurnal temperature variation on degree-day accumulation and insect life history. [PDF]

open access: goldPLoS One, 2015
Ectotherms, such as insects, experience non-constant temperatures in nature. Daily mean temperatures can be derived from the daily maximum and minimum temperatures.

Diurnal temperature variation of the river water (1) Model

open access: diamondJournal of Japan Society of Hydrology and Water Resources, 1995
A calculation model is presented for prediction of the river water temperature. In the model the heat exchange at the air-water interface and the ground heat conduction at the river bed are taken into consideration. The input meteorological parameters to the model are incoming radiation flux, daily maximum and minimum air temperature, daily mean ...

Modelling the effects of diurnal temperature variation on malaria infection dynamics in mosquitoes [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Mosquito infection experiments that characterise how sporogony changes with temperature are increasingly being used to parameterise malaria transmission models.

Diurnal variation of intraoral pH and temperature [PDF]

open access: yesBDJ Open, 2017
Abstract Objective/Aims: The aim of this study was to measure continuously the intraoral pH and temperature of healthy individuals to investigate their diurnal variations. Materials and Methods: Seventeen participants (mean age, 31±9 years) wore a custom-made intraoral ...

Diurnal Wind and Temperature Variations over Lake Ontario [PDF]

open access: bronzeMonthly Weather Review, 1978
Abstract Diurnal variations of wind and temperature were obtained from six rawinsonde stations surrounding Lake Ontario during a period favorable for lake breeze occurrence. The wind variations were unexpectedly found to be approximately the same in phase and amplitude at all stations, irrespective of location relative to the lake.

Evaporation in sand column under diurnal temperature variation

open access: bronzePROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 1994
This paper describes the mechanism of evaporation in a sand column under a diurnal temperature variation. Thermo-hygro meters were used to obtain the vertical profile of water vapor density along a sand column. The correlation between air temperature and evaporation rate is positive and the evaporation rate is high when the air temperature is high ...

Diurnal Temperature Variations Significantly Affect Cucumber Fruit Growth [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 2017
Decreasing the temperature in heated greenhouses significantly reduces heat costs and CO2 emissions. However, the thermophile cucumber is known to be very sensitive to low temperatures. In particular, fruit growth decreases considerably as temperature declines. Nevertheless, reports show that cucumber can be grown successfully at low night temperatures.
