Retest variability and diurnal effects in the pattern electroretinogram

Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1996
Pattern electroretinograms were recorded to phase-reversing checkerboard stimuli with DTL electrodes under conditions close to those of the ISCEV pattern electroretinogram guidelines. Both transient (2 reversals/s) and steady-state (16 reversals/s) stimulation was used.

Daily Mood Variability: Form of Diurnal Patterns and Determinants of Diurnal Patterns

Journal of Applied Social Psychology, 1996
Mood and affect are often assessed in psychological research without regard for the potential influence of time of day or other environmental factors. This study examined the determinants of daily mood variability. Ninety‐four subjects completed a diary every 15 min for 1 day, and subjects' moods, activities, and locations were assessed. Diurnal cycles

Variability of diurnality in laboratory rodents

Journal of Comparative Physiology A, 2006
The locomotor activity rhythms of domestic mice, laboratory rats, Syrian hamsters, Siberian hamsters, Mongolian gerbils, degus, and Nile grass rats were compared. Running-wheel activity was monitored under a light-dark cycle with 12 h of light and 12 h of darkness per day.

Variability of the diurnal tide in the equatorial MLT

Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2013
Abstract For many years the amplitude of the diurnal tide in the mesosphere, lower thermosphere (MLT) has been known to be deeply modulated over a wide range of time scales. These time scales range from a few days, to seasonal dependencies, and up to interannual time scales.

Diurnal and seasonal variability of Uranus's magnetosphere

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2017
AbstractIn order to study the coupling mechanism between the solar wind and the magnetosphere, we use a numerical model to simulate the global magnetosphere and to predict potential favorable reconnection locations. We propose that a “switch‐like” magnetosphere exists at Uranus in both equinox and solstice seasons, where the planetary rotation drives ...

Diurnal and Exercise-Related Variability of Haemoglobin and Reticulocytes in Athletes

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2010
Haemoglobin (Hb) and Reticulocytes (Ret) are measured as indirect markers of doping in athletes. We studied the diurnal variation, the impact of exercise, fluid intake and ambient temperature in athletes on these parameters. Hourly venous blood samples were obtained from 36 male athletes of different disciplines (endurance (END) and non-endurance (NON ...

Diurnal characteristics of heart rate variability in patients with sarcoidosis

Herz, 2016
The aim of this study was to evaluate autonomic nervous system function by measuring heart rate variability (HRV) in patients with sarcoidosis without known cardiac manifestations. The study comprised 61 participants, including 31 patients with sarcoidosis without known cardiac manifestations and 30 healthy volunteers.

Diurnal Blood Pressure Variability in Mineralocorticoid Excess Syndrome

American Journal of Hypertension, 1992
Noninvasive 24-h blood pressure (BP) monitoring has demonstrated a diurnal blood pressure profile in most individuals that is characterized by higher arterial pressures during wakefulness and lower pressures at night during sleep. Recently, reports suggest that this typical diurnal variation is absent in syndromes of autonomic dysfunction and in some ...

Effect of Pedal Rate on Diurnal Variations in Cardiorespiratory Variables

Chronobiology International, 2006
Recently, it was observed that the freely chosen pedal rate of elite cyclists was significantly lower at 06:00 than at 18:00 h, and that ankle kinematics during cycling exhibits diurnal variation. The modification of the pedaling technique and pedal rate observed throughout the day could be brought about to limit the effect of diurnal variation on ...

[Diurnal variability of intraocular pressure].

Archivos de la Sociedad Espanola de Oftalmologia, 2008
To assess whether there are variations in the intraocular pressure (IOP) between the morning and afternoon in healthy subjects. This study was carried out in a Primary Care Health Center among usual patients of general practitioners. Two measurements of the intraocular pressure were assessed on the same day (between 8 and 9 a.m. and between 5 and 6 p.m.)
