Specificity: A Graph-Based Estimator of Divergence
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2011In statistical modeling, there are various techniques used to build models from training data. Quantitative comparison of modeling techniques requires a method for evaluating the quality of the fit between the model probability density function (pdf) and the training data.

On a few pitfalls in KL divergence gradient estimation for RL
arXiv.orgWe point out a few pitfalls in implementing gradient estimation for KL divergence in RL training for LLM, as seen in a number of open source projects and papers.

We present a novel technique to detect an intrusive attack that occurs in the network due to the presence of a compromised node. These intrusive attacks last for a long time in the network due to the existence of compromised nodes this also affects the ...

Histogram-based estimation for the divergence revisited
2009 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2009This work revisits and extends the problem of consistent divergence estimation using data-dependent partitions. For distributions defined on (ℝd, β(ℝd)), the main result characterizes sufficient conditions on a data-dependent partition scheme to get a strongly consistent histogram-based estimate of the divergence.

Lower bounds for the divergence of orientational estimators
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2001Summary: This paper is concerned with the properties of estimators in \(O(n,p)\), the \(n\times p\) orthogonal matrices. It is shown that it is natural to introduce the notion of a parallel estimator where the expected value of the estimator must lie in the normal space (orthogonal complement of the tangent space) of \(O(n,p)\) at the true value.

Theoretical Population Biology, 1988
A statistical method of estimating population splitting times is developed. We consider three populations, with an assumed known tree topology for their phylogenetic tree. From simulation studies, we find that the method of moments performs very well, in particular for both large number of loci and divergence times, in estimating genetic divergence ...
