Phylogenomics and biogeography of the cleptoparasitic bee genus Triepeolus Robertson (Hymenoptera: Apidae), with a revised subgeneric classification of Triepeolus and its sister genus, Epeolus Latreille Filogenómica y biogeografía del género de abejas cleptoparásitas Triepeolus Robertson (Hymenoptera: Apidae), con una clasificación subgenérica revisada para Triepeolus y su género hermano, Epeolus Latreille

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
A subgeneric classification is proposed for Triepeolus—the second‐largest genus of cleptoparasitic apid bees in the world—and its sister genus Epeolus, with support from a newly presented dated phylogeny. Phylogenomic analysis based on ultraconserved elements revealed strong support for the monophyly of Triepeolus, which diverged from Epeolus sometime ...

Intraspecific plant chemodiversity at plot level has contrasting effects on arthropod functional groups

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 12, Page 3732-3750, December 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Plant chemistry mediates interactions between plants and their environment. While intraspecific chemodiversity at the individual plant level is well studied, the effects of chemodiversity at the plant community level on arthropod interactions need more attention.

Urbanization of seed dispersal networks

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Rapid urban expansion is affecting the composition of wild communities and creating novel ecosystems worldwide. Seed dispersal is key for ecosystem persistence, particularly in fragmented landscapes. However, generalizations regarding the impacts of urbanization are still difficult due to the lack of studies encompassing the urban matrix.

Integrating target capture with whole genome sequencing of recent and natural history collections to explain the phylogeography of wild‐growing and cultivated cannabis

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 7, Issue 6, Page 1771-1788, November 2025.
Cannabis has been used by humans for millennia, resulting in diverse landraces and uses. Its complex legal status and economic importance make sampling wild‐growing populations difficult, limiting past studies to modern cultivars with low genetic diversity. Our research provides crucial insights into the genetic diversity of wild‐growing and cultivated

Abundance, Diversity and Phenology of Mosquito Larvae in a Highly Anthropized Wetland: Health and Management Implications of Gándaras de Budiño (NW Spain)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2025.
The natural and anthropized wetland of Gándaras de Budiño (Galicia, Spain) hosts a great number of mosquito species. Culex pipiens s.l. and Culex torrentium pose an emerging risk for West Nile virus transmission. The temporary and polluted waters, as well as the summer and spring seasons, favor the larval proliferation of these vectors.

Long‐Term Fire and Vegetation Change at Cocha Cashu Biological Station, Peru

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 3, May 2025.
Cocha Cashu is a dynamic system that has experienced various forms of past ecological turnover. However, the dynamism seen at Cocha Cashu was not caused by intensive human activities in the past. ABSTRACT Past human influence from the pre‐Columbian and colonial periods may have played a role in shaping modern Amazonian vegetation.
