To diversify or not to diversify internationally?
Finance Research Letters, 2022Abstract Using alternative measures of return correlations, we show that neither industry nor country correlations exhibit an ever-increasing trend. Instead, correlations jump during recessions with a tendency to revert in stable periods. This keeps international diversification still important despite the financial integration that might have ...

In the current chapter diversifying experiences - unusual and unexpected events or situations that push people outside of the realm of normality - and their influence on creativity are discussed. Three different types of diversifying experiences are considered. Most of this chapter is dedicated to schema-violations. Different types of schema violations

A new method is proposed for disentangling the systematic components from the idiosyncratic components of risk associated with trend-following strategies. A simple statistical approach combined with standard dimension reduction techniques enables to identify the common trending component of futures market prices.

The Internet has fallen victim to its own stunning success. The interplay of the end-to-end design of IP and the vested interests of competing stakeholders has led to its growing ossification. Alterations to the Internet architecture that address its fundamental deficiencies or enable new services have been restricted to incremental changes.

We reconsider the nature and formal properties of the class inclusion relation, IS-A, from the point of view of information modeling and engineering of formal ontologies. In particular we review approaches to the elusive notion of intensionality. We then conduct an analysis adopting a metalogic setup where classes and properties are reified.

To diversify or not to diversify.
Harvard business review, 1998One of the most challenging decisions a company can confront is whether to diversify. The rewards and risks are extraordinary. Success stories such as General Electric, Disney, and 3M abound, but so do stories of failure-consider Quaker Oats' entry into the fruit juice business with Snapple. What makes diversification such an unpredictable, high-stakes

Striving for maximum diversification we follow the 2009 work of Meucci in measuring and managing a multi-asset class portfolio. Under this paradigm the maximum diversification portfolio is equivalent to a risk parity strategy with respect to the uncorrelated risk sources embedded in the underlying portfolio assets.

To Diversify or Not to Diversify Entity Summaries on RDF Knowledge Graphs?
2011This paper concerns the issue of diversity in entity summarisation on RDF knowledge graphs. In particular, we study whether and to what extent the notion of diversity is appreciated by real users of a summarisation tool. To this end, we design a user evaluation study and experimentally evaluate and compare, on real data concerning the movie domain ...
