Capacity of SIMO and MISO Phase-Noise Channels with Common/Separate Oscillators

open access: yes, 2015
In multiple antenna systems, phase noise due to instabilities of the radio-frequency (RF) oscillators, acts differently depending on whether the RF circuitries connected to each antenna are driven by separate (independent) local oscillators (SLO) or by a

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Diversity Block Code: A Trade-off for Multiplexing and Diversity Gains

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences, 2014
Multiple antennas at both transmitter and receiver have been proposed in the literature to obtain spatial multiplexing or diversity based on the system requirement. Analytical approaches have been found in the literature, suggesting obtainable trade-off between multiplexing and diversity.

Slow subcarrier-hopped Space Division Multiple Access OFDM systems

open access: yes, 2005
Recently Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) assisted Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) OFDM systems invoking Multi-User Detection (MUD) techniques have attracted substantial research interests, which are capable of exploiting both transmitter ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Performance analysis of amplify-and-forward cooperative communication systems with imperfect channel estimation

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2011
The impact of channel estimation errors on the performance for two-hop multi-relays assisted am-plify-and-forward(AF) cooperative communication systems was investigated.Closed-form expressions of the average symbol error rate,as well as the diversity ...

Detection-Localization Tradeoff in MIMO Radars [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2017
Two gains play key roles in recently developed‎ MIMO ‎wireless communication systems‎: ‎"spatial diversity‎" ‎gain and "spatial multiplexing‎" ‎gain‎. ‎The diversity gain refers to the capability to decrease the error rate of the MIMO channel‎, ‎while ...
