A new diversity index [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Biology, 2021
We introduce here a new index of diversity based on consideration of reasonable propositions that such an index should have in order to represent diversity. The behaviour of the index is compared with that of the Gini-Simpson diversity index, and is found to predict more realistic values of diversity for small communities, in particular when each ...

Measuring corporate diversity in financial services: a diversity index

open access: yesInternational Review of Applied Economics, 2022
This paper provides a measure of corporate diversity in financial services. Our index is based on four components: ownership; competitiveness; balance sheet structure/resilience; and geographic spread. The first of these sub-indexes measures ownership diversity based on the Berry index of diversification and the Gini-Simpson index of biodiversity.

A forward diversity index [PDF]

open access: yesScientometrics, 2011
We introduce an indicator to measure the diffusion of scientific research. Consistent with Stirling's 3-factor diversity model, the diffusion score captures not only variety and balance, but also disparity among citing article cohorts. We apply it to benchmark article samples from six 1995 Web of Science subject categories (SCs) to trace trends in ...

Size Structure of Phytopopulations and Its Quantitative Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
There was elucidated the original approach to the evaluation of phytopopulation size structure. For its characteristics it was offered to use the special index - index diversity of size structure (ІDSS).

Higher diversity of Rhizobium leguminosarum biovar viciae populations in arable soils than in grass soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The bacterial genetic diversity after long-term arable cultivation was compared with that under permanent grassland using replicated paired contrasts, Pea-nodulating Rhizobium leguminosarum populations were sampled from pairs of arable and grass sites at

The performance effects of board heterogeneity: What works for EU banks? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We examine the impact of board heterogeneity on the performance of EU listed banks in the wake of the global financial crisis. In a comprehensive set-up, we consider standard board features (type, tenure, size, and age of board members) as well as board ...

Degree correlation effect of bipartite network on personalized recommendation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, by introducing a new user similarity index base on the diffusion process, we propose a modified collaborative filtering (MCF) algorithm, which has remarkably higher accuracy than the standard collaborative filtering.

Reduced tillage, but not organic matter input, increased nematode diversity and food web stability in European long‐term field experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Soil nematode communities and food web indices can inform about the complexity, nutrient flows and decomposition pathways of soil food webs, reflecting soil quality.

Does diversity of papers affect their citations? Evidence from American Physical Society Journals

open access: yes, 2015
In this work, we study the correlation between interdisciplinarity of papers within physical sciences and their citations by using meta data of articles published in American Physical Society's Physical Review journals between 1985 to 2012.

Index Modulation for Frequency Diverse Array [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2020
The index modulation (IM) approach adds an extra signal modulation dimension by utilizing a subcarrier index domain, which is in addition to the traditional IQ domain. A frequency diverse array (FDA) technology is rapidly developing as a new technique for radar systems.
