Fever of Unknown Origin From the Primary Care Perspective: A Case Report

A 60‐year‐old immunocompetent man presented to his primary care physician with 3 weeks of fever without an obvious source or risk factors. After multiple encounters, he was found to have a pyogenic liver abscess on computed tomography (CT). He improved with interventional radiology (IR) drainage and antibiotics.

Intestinal spirochetosis and colon diverticulosis [PDF]

A case of intestinal spirochetosis in a 62-year-old white male is reported. The condition was characterized by chronic flatulence and episodes of intestinal hemorrhage, in addition to the evidence of hypotonic diverticular disease, with a large number of slender organisms in the colon epithelium and cryptae.

Coffee Consumption and Risk of Incident Gastrointestinal Disease: A Large Prospective Cohort Study

In a large prospective cohort, unsweetened coffee consumption demonstrated a U‐shaped association with a reduced risk of multiple gastrointestinal diseases and attenuated genetic susceptibility, whereas adding sweeteners, particularly artificial ones, diminished these protective effects.
