There are no noncommutative soft maps [PDF]
It is shown that for a map $f \colon X \to Y$ of compact spaces the unital $\ast$-homomorphism $C(f) \colon C(Y) \to C(X)$ is projective in the category $\operatorname{Mor}({\mathcal C}^{1})$ precisely when $X$ is a dendrite and $f$ is either homeomorphism or a constant.

Laparoscopic duodenojejunostomy for superior mesenteric artery syndrome in a 13 year-old boy
Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome is a rare condition in which the third portion of the duodenum is compressed between the SMA anteriorly and the aorta posteriorly. The resulting duodenal obstruction is often due to rapid weight loss and commonly

Colonization of a territory by a stochastic population under a strong Allee effect and a low immigration pressure [PDF]
We study the dynamics of colonization of a territory by a stochastic population at low immigration pressure. We assume a sufficiently strong Allee effect that introduces, in deterministic theory, a large critical population size for colonization. At low immigration rates, the average pre-colonization population size is small thus invalidating the WKB ...

Lemmel syndrome: presentation of a Case
Background: the duodenum corresponds to the second location where the gastrointestinal diverticula are most frequently presented after the colon. Lemmel's syndrome, also known as intermittent obstructive jaundice, presence of duodenal diverticula near ...

Combinatorial characterization of pseudometrics [PDF]
Let $X$, $Y$ be sets and let $\Phi$, $\Psi$ be mappings with the domains $X^{2}$ and $Y^{2}$ respectively. We say that $\Phi$ is combinatorially similar to $\Psi$ if there are bijections $f \colon \Phi(X^2) \to \Psi(Y^{2})$ and $g \colon Y \to X$ such that $\Psi(x, y) = f(\Phi(g(x), g(y)))$ for all $x$, $y \in Y$.

A Case of Inverted Colonic Diverticulum
Inverted colonic diverticulum (ICD) is an infrequent finding on colonoscopy, often misdiagnosed as colonic polyps. Further endoscopic intervention, such as polypectomy or biopsy, may lead to colonic perforation. For that reason, the endoscopist should be aware of the possibility of detecting these lesions when performing a colonoscopy.

Postmortem computed tomography of barium peritonitis due to descending colon perforation
We describe herein the findings from postmortem computed tomography (PMCT) of barium peritonitis due to descending colon perforation. The patient was a woman in her 60s who underwent upper gastrointestinal series with barium swallow for the purpose of ...
