Enhancing Surgical Efficiency and Cost‐Effectiveness With TaTME‐Combined Robot‐Assisted Surgery for Lower Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Robot‐assisted rectal surgery (RAS) offers improved dexterity and visualization; however, the high cost of equipment and consumables remains a major challenge for hospital management. At our institution, we have adopted a combined approach using transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) for lower rectal cancers, aiming to shorten ...

Short Distal Resection Margin Does Not Increase Recurrence Risk After R0 Resection for Rectal Neuroendocrine Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study of 208 Patients

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study evaluated the impact of distal resection margin (DRM) length on recurrence in 208 patients undergoing surgery for rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Our findings demonstrate that while oncological safety must unquestionably remain the top priority, a short pathological DRM (< 10 mm) does not increase recurrence risk when R0 resection is ...

Prognostic Value of Psoas Major Muscle Volume in Assessing Sarcopenia in Elderly Patients With Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study investigates the prognostic utility of a novel volumetric indicator—psoas volume index (PVI)—for assessing sarcopenia in elderly rectal cancer patients. Sarcopenia classified by our proposed PVI cut‐off values was associated with poor nutritional and inflammatory status, and patients with low PVI showed significantly worse long‐term outcomes.

Impact of Yacora evaluated molecular effective rate coefficients on detached SOLPS-ITER simulations

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Presently, SOLPS-ITER does not replicate the levels of plasma-molecular interactions seen during deep detachment on the Super-X divertors of MAST-Upgrade and TCV.

Dispersoid coarsening induced softening in Ti-doped ODS-Cu alloys under Fe ion irradiation at 350°C

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
Oxide dispersion strengthened copper (ODS-Cu) alloy is considered as a candidate of heat sink materials for divertors, and Ti doping is regarded as an effective strategy to improve the performance of Cu-Al2O3 (a common ODS-Cu).
