An approach to explore the eddy currents of the new type divertor for EAST device using ANSYS code [PDF]
An effective method for eddy current calculation has been developed for EAST’s new divertor by using ANSYS. A 3D model of a double null divertor for the EAST device was built to evaluate eddy currents and electromagnetic (EM) forces on these components ...

Divertor tungsten source monitoring by A visible spectroscopy diagnostic on EAST
EAST has been upgraded with top and bottom tungsten divertors to facilitate the high power long pulse operation. A visible spectroscopy diagnostic has been developed progressively to monitor W source as well as line emissions from other particles (e.g ...

Plasma pressure and particle loss studies in the Pilot-PSI high flux linear plasma generator
Plasma detachment in tokamak divertors reduces the particle and power fluxes to the plasma facing components and is essential for successful operation of ITER. The linear plasma generator Pilot-PSI can produce a high density (∼1021 m−3), low temperature (

We study the nonequilibrium steady states of a one-dimensional fluid in a finite-space region of length L. Particles interact among themselves by multi-particle collisions and are in contact with two thermal-wall heat reservoirs, located at the ...

Fuel recycling control in long pulse operation with full tungsten divertors in EAST tokamak
Fuel recycling control in long pulse discharges is studied in EAST tokamak with tungsten divertors by particle balance. Double null configuration, proper Resonant Magnetic Perturbation (RMP), divertor cryopumps and realtime lithium injection, are all ...

Formation of convective cells in the scrape-off layer of the CASTOR tokamak [PDF]
Understanding of the scrape-off layer (SOL) physics in tokamaks requires diagnostics with sufficient temporal and spatial resolution. This contribution describes results of experiments performed in the SOL of the CASTOR tokamak (R=40 cm, a = 6 cm) by ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

HEAT simulation and IR data comparison for ST40 plasma-facing components
The Heat Flux Engineering Analysis Toolkit (HEAT) (Looby et al., 2022) was used to simulate the heat flux, qtarget, on ST40 molybdenum divertors. Results were compared with experimental infrared (IR) data.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
